About us
Making Alcohol Recovery Information Easier to Find
Alcoholic Outreach is a national educational and resource platform. We exist to make it simpler for people — and the families who love them — to understand alcohol use, find treatment options, and locate credible recovery support.
Alcoholic Outreach is an educational and resource platform. We are not a treatment provider, detox facility, or crisis service.
Our mission
Alcohol-related problems are common, treatable, and still surrounded by stigma. People looking for help often find a confusing mix of clinical language, sales-driven treatment marketing, and information that assumes there is only one way to recover.
Our mission is to help individuals affected by alcohol use find the information, support, and treatment resources they need to pursue healthier lives — with accuracy, transparency, and respect for individual choices.
What we do
- Publish plain-language education on alcohol use, withdrawal safety, treatment options, medications, mental health, and family support
- Maintain a national directory of recovery and treatment resources, with verification status shown on every listing
- Link directly to official organizations and government resources so you can verify information at the source
- Explain what treatment actually involves, including what to ask providers before committing
What we do not do
- We do not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, detoxification, medications, or therapy
- We do not provide emergency services — call 911 in an emergency, or 988 for crisis support
- We do not guarantee admission, insurance acceptance, treatment availability, or outcomes
- We do not present paid placement as an independent clinical recommendation
- We do not claim medical review of content that has not actually been reviewed by a clinician
Our values in practice
- Compassion without judgment: No lectures, no shame, no assumption that any one path is the right one.
- Accessible, evidence-informed information: Plain language, sourced from federal and professional health organizations, and honest about what is not known.
- Transparency: We label verification status on listings and disclose how this platform is funded.
- Respect for every recovery journey: Abstinence, reduced drinking, medication, faith-based, secular, 12-step, and non-12-step paths all belong in the conversation.
How we source and review content
Our educational pages are written from material published by federal health agencies and established professional organizations — primarily the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the National Library of Medicine, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — along with the official websites of recovery organizations.
Where a page would benefit from clinical review, we plan to engage qualified reviewers and will publish reviewer credentials at that time. Until then, pages state plainly that they have not been individually medically reviewed. We do not invent authors, credentials, citations, or statistics.
How the directory works
The directory begins with verified national organizations whose details can be confirmed from public, official sources. Treatment provider listings are added as their information is confirmed, and each listing displays its verification status, the source, and the date it was last checked.
We do not fabricate providers, licensing, accreditation, insurance acceptance, or availability. If something has not been verified, it is labeled that way or left out. Any sponsored or paid placement would be clearly disclosed, and our current funding position and advertising practices are described in the Advertising & Directory Disclosure.
Accessibility and privacy
People researching alcohol use deserve privacy and ease. We design for keyboard navigation, readable contrast, and reduced-motion preferences, and we keep data collection to the minimum needed to answer you. See our Privacy Policy and Accessibility Statement.
Where we are going
The directory is designed to grow: state and city-level resource pages, support-group meeting finders, provider-submitted updates, recovery event calendars, and Spanish-language resources are the directions we plan to build. If you would like to suggest a resource, correct an error, or propose a listing, we would genuinely like to hear from you.
