Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2026
People researching alcohol use deserve privacy by default. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it.
Information we collect
- Contact form: the name, email address, inquiry category, and message you choose to submit, and the page you sent it from.
- Newsletter: the email address you provide and the fact that you opted in.
- Aggregate usage data: non-identifying counts of actions such as visiting a page, searching the directory, or opening a listing. These records are used to understand whether the site is useful and to improve it.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask for medical history, diagnosis information, treatment records, or insurance identification numbers.
- We do not build advertising audiences from what you read here.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
- We do not place advertising pixels on educational pages or forms.
How we use information
- To respond to the inquiry you sent
- To send the optional newsletter you asked for, until you unsubscribe
- To verify, correct, and maintain directory listings and educational content
- To understand aggregate site usage and improve the experience
Cookies and analytics
The site uses only the storage needed to function and to measure aggregate activity. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not transmit the content of forms or the specifics of what you looked at to advertising platforms.
Third-party links
Our pages link to other organizations and government resources. Once you leave this site, the privacy practices of that organization apply. We encourage you to read their policies before sharing information with them.
Health information and legal status
Alcoholic Outreach is an educational and resource platform. It is not a healthcare provider, health plan, or clearinghouse, and it is not acting as a HIPAA-covered entity. Because we do not need your medical information, we ask that you not include it in messages to us. If you ever believe you have sent us sensitive information by mistake, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
Contact inquiries are kept only as long as needed to handle the request and to keep a record of corrections and directory decisions. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send, or by emailing us
- Ask us what information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it
- Ask us to stop corresponding with you
Send any of these requests to hello@alcoholicoutreach.com and we will respond as quickly as we can.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, administrative access is protected by authentication, and access to form submissions is limited to administrators. No system is perfectly secure, which is one more reason we minimize what we collect.
Children
This site is written for adults and for family members seeking help. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be described in plain language.
