Find Alcohol Treatment and Recovery Resources

Search resources nationwide and filter by what matters to you — state, city, ZIP code, service type, level of care, telehealth, payment options, language, and population served.

Every listing shows its verification status and the date it was last checked. Inclusion is not a clinical recommendation, and we do not guarantee availability, coverage, or admission.

Levels of Care at a Glance

Treatment needs vary. The most appropriate level of care depends on withdrawal risk, medical and mental health needs, and professional assessment — not on which option sounds most intensive.

Medically supervised withdrawal management

Short-term medical care while the body adjusts to the absence of alcohol, with monitoring for complications.

Residential treatment

Structured, around-the-clock care in a treatment setting, often recommended when a home environment makes early recovery difficult.

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP)

Several hours of structured clinical programming each day, typically with the person living at home or in supported housing.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)

Multiple group and individual sessions each week, designed for people who need structure while continuing daily life.

Standard outpatient treatment

Scheduled counseling or therapy sessions, usually once or twice a week, for ongoing support and skill-building.

Individual counseling

One-to-one work with a licensed counselor or therapist on the thoughts, situations, and history that shape drinking.

Medication treatment for alcohol use disorder

Medications prescribed by a licensed clinician can reduce cravings or support the goals of a treatment plan.

Peer-led recovery support

Mutual-support groups and communities that offer ongoing encouragement from people with shared experience.

Continuing care and recovery housing

Ongoing support after primary treatment, which may include recovery residences and outpatient check-ins.
